About Me

I created this blog so I could give my two cents on topics that are near and dear to me. All presented in a 9 inning format.

My Top Five All-Around Christmas Movies

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.  The Griswolds and members of their extended family get together for Christmas and have a heckuva time.  Clark squabbles with a neighbor and hopes for the Christmas bonus (has dreams of a pool!).  Throw in Cousin Eddie and the ensemble is complete.

The Santa Clause 2.  Scott Calvin...errr, I mean Santa Claus is back in this sequel to the hit, The Santa Clause.  This time around he has to get married and if he doesn't Christmas is ruined for everyone because he won't be Santa anymore.  Good laughs and good soundtrack!

Die Hard.  Where it all began for John McClane.  Stuck in Nakatomi Tower trying to save his wife and her coworkers from terrorists and incompetent FBI agents and LA cops.  Lots of explosions, shoot 'em-ups, and action.  Best scene is when he is digging out the glass in his bare feet...ok, not the best scene but one that is memorable.

Elf.  Will Ferrell makes an appearance in one of his most memorable roles as a human raised as an Elf then sent off to find his dad in New York City.  As Buddy the Elf, he learns to fit in with lots of fun and making new friends.  Best line in the movie is, "He's an angry elf...".

It's a Wonderful Life.  The classic from long ago with one of my favorite all-time actors, Jimmy Stewart.  I don't recall ever watching this one the entire way as a child but during my teen years and young adulthood I finally watched it.  I found it giving me a bit of hope and inspiration when I was in some pretty depressing and dark times during those years.  Somehow I related to George by wanting to get out of town and see the world and I sort of did by just getting out of town only to return to raise my family.  Weird how that works out, huh?
